Jack Sava, MD, FACS

Jack Sava, MD is Medstar Washington Hospital Center’s Trauma Director and leads the Gold Surgery Team. He is program director General Surgery, and is the the Director of Surgical Simulation for the hospital. He is currently the chair of the DC chapter of the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma, has lectured locally and nationally, and has authored many abstracts, journal articles, and book chapters.

In addition to clinical expertise in the care of injured patients, Dr. Sava has a special interest in innovative education, including simulation, e-learning, and serious gaming. He is currently collaborating with gamers in the creation of a video game for training of physicians in trauma.

He maintains a lifelong interest in ethics, and has lectured and published on topics related to medical ethics in trauma care.
